Martin Devaney spoke to iFollow Barnsley after the Reds' first leg against Bolton Wanderers at Oakwell.
The Reds were two goals down against the Whites until Sam Cosgrove side-footed home in the 76th minute to halve the deficit.
However, Bolton struck late on to take a two-goal lead into the second leg at the Toughsheet Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Devaney provided his reaction:
"I thought we started well," he began. "The first goal is disappointing having Coley off the pitch, we've got to manage that a little bit better. In the second half I thought we had some spells, we were looking to get that goal. It's a mistake which can happen. We make the changes and they affected the game. We get the goal and the momentum changes.
"We had two good chances for Phillo, the 'keeper has pulled off a great save. The third goal, it really hurt us. It is what it is. We've got to be positive, pick ourselves up."
